Michelle and BJ booked one of my mountain elopement packages and planned a simple ceremony at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir in Banff. It was my distinct pleasure to spend the afternoon with them on such an important day. Signature Weddings by Ashley pulled all of the details together perfectly. The bride was kind enough to share a few thoughts on the day.
There’s so much to rave about from our day so it’s hard to choose our favourite part. We really treasured the fact that we got to spend it with the people who have supported us from the very beginning – our families. Our tip for future couples planning a wedding is to elope. After speaking with a lot of married friends and we dodged a lot of the stressful parts of planning a big wedding.
Given the current times and the fact that local health authorities are telling us to “think small”, I have a few mountain elopement packages available:
- Joy Curated Elopements. Together with 206 Event Co. and Sweet Bloom Floral Design, I’m offering a package designed to help you celebrate your dream day (with a twist) that’s intimate, memorable and stress-free. Find more information about it in this blog post.
- My original elopement package has been popular with destination brides and grooms like Michelle and BJ. For a limited time, I’m offering this package with 4 hours of photography (previously 3 hrs). Even if you’re planning a larger celebration but need to trim your photography budget, 4 hours of coverage could allow me to capture essential moments. With a well-planned timeline, I could photograph your ceremony, family portraits, bridal party and formals during a four-hour period. Read more about that option here in this blog post.

Mountain Elopement Packages – The First Look
We decided to elope on our 9 year anniversary in Banff, Alberta. Our wedding day was so relaxed and it couldn’t have been more perfect. That morning we enjoyed the nice weather on our suite patio until hair and makeup arrived. I got ready downstairs and BJ waited upstairs in our suite at Hidden Ridge Resort until I was finished.
For our first look, I rode along with our photographer to Bow Falls. BJ followed us in a separate vehicle. As Tara stationed BJ at a place along the trail, a British couple walking by and talked to BJ. I laughed as I watched them because he hates having all the attention on him. Knowing him, he probably wanted them to just move along. Once they finished their conversation, they walked towards my way and told me, “I just told him you’re in for a treat, she looks absolutely beautiful”. They told me they’ve been together for 40 years and wished us a happy marriage together.
Finally, several of my 2017 brides (including Michelle) shared their tips for planning a fabulous day. You won’t want to miss their advice.
