Congratulations, you’re engaged! Before you get caught up in a blur of planning, stop and take it all in. An engagement session is the perfect way to do that. One of the most common questions I get asked is “what to wear to your engagement session”. I have a number of wardrobe tips that apply to any season. That said, I did just photograph the prettiest, Fall Look Book for Adorn Boutique in Inglewood. Brides, this post has an extra spoonful of autumn just for you.
Wardrobe Dos
Do coordinate your outfits. Your outfits should complement each other. Do think of your location when picking out colours to wear. If your photos are in a park, don’t wear a green dress as you will blend in with the surroundings. Something like pink or red might pop nicely. Do wear fitted, but not clingy clothes. You don’t want to get lost in shapeless clothing. Do wear something that flatters your favourite parts. If you have toned arms, go sleeveless. Do you have long, lovely legs? Show them off!
Wardrobe Don’ts
Don’t be matchy-matchy. Don’t be afraid to layer and accessorize. Layering will also help if the temperature drops on an evening shoot. Don’t be afraid of colour and pattern – just make sure that they complement each other. For example, patterns should have different scales. If one of you is wearing a medium-sized pattern, then the other should be in small print or solid.
