Spring wedding trends in 2020

When it comes to spring wedding trends in 2020, why not consider pussy willow? As a kid growing up in rural Alberta, I remember these willows being a sure sign of spring. So I hit the road, armed with rubber boots and clippers, and began foraging. When I had gathered enough, I brought my collection of branches to Flowers by Janie.  Together with Beyond the Proposal, she transformed these silver-gray catkins into large, eye-catching arrangements. The end result was natural, sculptural and picture-perfect.

I used pussy willow alongside blooms like spirea and sweet peas to create a stunning, suspended installation.  I included a variety of roses (antique garden, amnesia and sweet escimo) together with apricot ranunculus, lavender tulips and blackberry scoop scabiosa.  Foraged pussy willow branches tied the ceiling install together with the floral runner. Beyond the Proposal designed the breathtaking tablescape with rentals sourced from Modern Luxe.

A focal area

Because the foyer of the restaurant is filled with natural light, we created a focal area there. Using the sculptural, “Jennifer” chair from Modern Luxe as a centrepiece, we fashioned a wall of pussy willow around it. An installation like this would be perfect for bridal portraits or a photo booth at a real wedding. Our bride Victoria proves this point! Read about the floral details on Flowers by Janie’s blog.
