Don’t get me wrong, I love shooting couples in dramatic locations and capturing happy moments.  I’m also a sucker for a good detail.  Enter Calgary jewelry designer, Joanna Bisley.  Joanna and her small team of artisans create heirloom bridal accessories for the contemporary bride who is looking for something unique and timeless.

Not long ago, I photographed several of Joanna’s pieces together with gowns and shoes from Blush & Ravel Bridal Boutique. 

It’s all in the details

Her Melissa necklace is unique because it has a detachable back drop which is ideal for a low-back gown.  The back drop can be removed later to wear again after the wedding.

The triple-strand Daniela bracelet has just the right combination of sparkle and pearls. The dark gold pearls lend a vintage vibe to this modern take on the pearl bracelet (also available in silver and cream pearl).

Melody Gold Earrings.  These earrings by Calgary jewelry designer Joanna Bisley, are perfect for the free-spirited bride who wants a modern look with pearls and a hint of sparkle. 

Raelee Hair Vine & Lucy Earrings. These pieces were designed with champagne tones to echo the nude underlays we are seeing in this season’s gowns.

Natasha Back Necklace. This crystal and pearl back necklace has been a best selling necklace for the past few seasons. Its adds drama to a simple backless gown and the front consists of a classic strand of pearls.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Joanna’s pieces numerous times over the years including this series we did on the Royal Wedding in 2018.  This autumn bride was also perfectly accessorized with Joanna’s pieces.
