Back in March I had a chance to wear two hats, floral assistant and photographer. My dear friend Janelle from Flowers by Janie, asked me to join her and photograph floral details for a destination wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. We kicked off the weekend with a rustic and woodsy rehearsal dinner in Mt. Stephen Hall. It’s easy to imagine why so many couples want to be married in such a magical place. In this case, the “castle in the Rockies” was a special place for the bride as she’d visited numerous times as a child.

The next day, the bride and groom planned to marry outside on the terrace but moved to plan B due to heavy snowfall in Banff. Their ceremony took place in the Riverview Lounge instead, with the Rockies towering just outside the windows.
For me the pièce de résistance was this full and fragrant arrangement at the entrance of the ballroom. From there the guests were invited into a candlelit reception in the glamorous Cascade Ballroom. It was classic, it was timeless and it was completely romantic.
Here are more details on the floral goodnesss from Janelle’s perspective, if you’d like to see. It was so much fun watching you work. Thanks for inviting me along!
