Today I’m excited to share Jillian and Jon’s Barrier Lake engagement session. We hit the jackpot in the fall foliage department because the next day, the first snow fell and winter was upon us. As pretty as the autumn leaves were, the best part of this whole post is that Jillian is going to share the romantic story of their proposal (in the Rockies of course). I’m looking forward to their wedding next summer at Creekside Villa in Canmore.
The Proposal Story
This winter Jon & I went on a skiing trip to Lake Louise. It was my first time going so we were both really excited. We stayed at a really nice hotel in Banff, ate delicious food & enjoyed the snow storm. When we went skiing that Saturday, it was a complete white out and we could not see 2 feet ahead of us. Even though I was disappointed that we couldn’t see the mountain views, I still tried to make the best of it. When we go skiing, Jon is the one who always leads the way. All of a sudden Jon pulled off the to side of the trail. For once, he let me lead the way so I continued on past him down the hill not realizing he was trying to get down on one knee. When I looked back, I noticed that Jon was waving me in. I didn’t know what he wanted, but I went over. He started taking off his skis, and proposed on the Lake Louise ski hill. I was in total shock, but so so happy! My hand felt a little heavier on the way down lol.
Clients often ask me where to take engagement photos around Calgary? Great Question. There are so many great spots but a few of my favourites are Spray Lakes, Big Hill Springs Provincial Park and the East Village.
