Well it’s time for our final fall “bloom of the week” feature. Have you been following along? Today Janelle from Flowers by Janie is here to tell us about Astilbe. While it’s not just a fall bloom, it makes a lovely textural addition to an autumn wedding bouquet.
The Astilbe flower is one of my favorite blooms and while they are available ¾ of the year from Holland, the lovely burgundy shade looks gorgeous in autumn wedding bouquets and centerpieces. The astilbe is a line flower with flower clusters that take the shape of a feather plume. They are available in red/burgundy, pink and white and allow for beautiful texture in wedding floral arrangements. They are a perennial flower that is easy to grow in your garden and perfect for planting in moderate to full shade areas. The flowers that we use in bouquets, centerpieces and other wedding arrangements are commercial grown and imported from Holland so that they are of the best quality. The flower meaning of the astilbe is “ I’ll still be waiting”.
