A big congratulations to all of the graduating students out there. You did it! I’m sure you have big plans that involve gowns, limos and celebrations with friends. As a local Calgary wedding photographer, I’d like to share a few tips for making your graduation — whether high-school or post-secondary — extra special. Read on for more information about Calgary graduation photos and how you can preserve the memories of this milestone for years to come.
Book your Calgary grad photos
Don’t let this important milestone go by without capturing it on camera. I’m offering a special package for graduates and their families. The package includes:
- Up to 1.5 hours of photography at a location of your choice.
- High-resolution images uploaded to an online gallery. Expect approximately 75 images from your session.
- $650 plus GST.
- Can accommodate groups of up to 6 and pets.

Book headshots only
If you’d like something more simple, consider a headshot package which includes:
- A 30-minute session with the graduate (headshot sessions are limited to one individual).
- $250 session fee is required to secure your booking. Session fees do NOT include images online or otherwise.
- Expect approximately 15-25 images to choose from.
- High-resolution images can be purchased for $25 each or $100 for 5 images.

Wear a cap & gown
Be sure to get some photographs with your cap and gown. This is one of those times where you simply MUST throw your cap up in the air.
Let’s see your grad outfit
You spent all of that time and money picking out the perfect grad outfit, let’s be sure to capture it. In Calgary, the Peace Bridge has been a popular spot for graduates for many years now. I also recommend the Crescent Heights and Rotary Park lookout points for the downtown city as your backdrop, and Gerry Shaw Garden for a whimsical nature feel.
Customize your Calgary Grad Photos
As graduation typically lands at a time when Calgary warms up, there are many options to personalize your grad photos outdoors and indoors so that they’re unique to you and your loved ones. This session in particular was cool as the graduate and his dad are gear-heads. They chose to customize their photos by including their car, which happened to go well with the moody clouds in the city skyline.
Make your Mom happy
She’s usually the person behind the camera so be sure to get photos with her to celebrate this important achievement. Invite those most important to you too — whether it be your best friends or family, all of your loved ones are welcome in these photos.

I’ve seen so many fun ideas for graduation.
