Over the past year I’ve spent quite a lot of time shooting in Inglewood. As I would drive across the 12th Street Bridge, I would notice the progress on the Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club. Their brand, new clubhouse is now open and available for private functions. The club recently hosted us for a Kate Spade-inspired wedding shoot. While there, I had a chance to see their facility first-hand.
If you don’t know it, the club is situated on the corner of 8th Ave. and 12th St. SE. Steeped in Calgary history, it was established by some of Calgary’s founding families. The new building is modern, with clean lines and excellent amenities. It is the perfect place to host a party, meeting or corporate event. They can accommodate events up to 100 people. The club currently operates from mid-May to mid-September (weather permitting). They are working towards opening the Clubhouse for off-season events as events as well. Think Christmas parties!
Keep in mind that there are guidelines for the use of the greens in order to maintain them for bowling. No chairs, tables or heels are permitted on the greens.
Because I know a number of brides and wedding professionals read this blog, I did ask the club specifically if they would host a wedding. The answer was a resounding “yes”! What a fun location for a wedding with a lawn bowling theme. I would love to photograph a lawn bowling wedding (hint, hint).
Update related to COVID-19
According to their website 17-May-2020, the ILBC has made the difficult decision to cancel all rentals and events at the lawn bowling club for the 2020 season related to COVID-19. I look forward to seeing Inglewood’s lawn bowling tradition start up again in 2021.
Finally, for more information on Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club, pop over to their website. If you’re looking for more options for wedding venues in Calgary, I’ve compiled a list of my favourites. Take a look.
