High above the town of Canmore, you’ll find one of the most spectacular mountain wedding locations, Silvertip Resort. Take it from me, the views of the Canadian Rockies are second to none, with customer service to match. Recently I met with their two wedding coordinators, Jennifer and Danielle, to chat about Silvertip and what makes it so special.
Tell us about Silvertip and how it came to be?
In the late 1980’s, a remarkable piece of land was discovered on the sunny side of the Bow Valley between Calgary and Banff, Alberta. Recognizing a never-to-be repeated opportunity, Guy Turcotte and three partners acquired these 600 acres. By 1993 that property subsequently became Silvertip Golf Resort, and the company name, inspired by an ancient creek bed on the slope, became Stone Creek Resorts. The golf course opened in 1998 followed by the clubhouse, housing the now Rustica Steakhouse and golf shop in 2005. Most recently, Stoney’s Bar & Grill and the Pavilion building in 2007 (where most of our wedding receptions take place) were added.

Unique mountain wedding locations
What are some features that make it a unique?
The views from the outdoor gazebo and Three Sisters view patio are simply stunning, and you can’t find them anywhere else. Silvertip Resort climbs from an elevation of 1,310 metres (4,300 feet) to 1,560 metres (5,200 feet) and provides an awe-inspiring view of the Bow Valley and Town of Canmore. These are both truly spectacular mountain wedding locations.
Who are your ideal couple?
At Silvertip, any couple can be ideal. We offer different banquet rooms, customizable menus and availability during all four seasons and as a result, we think that every couple can find what they are looking for at Silvertip Resort.
Any favourite wedding moments?
There are so many! I think for us as Event Managers, we love to see when couples decide to be a bit different, whether it’s in their décor or adding a family tradition, or arranging fireworks.
What’s on the menu?
Tell us about the menu options that are available to wedding couples?
Our catering menus for weddings have lots of choice. We have three different buffet options, at different price points where couples can build the menu they desire. We have the same for our three plated dinner menus options. Oh and the late night snack…we have the BEST! Most of all, couples rave about our “pub” grub & poutine.

Any “must-try” items on the menu?
In the Rustica steakhouse, you will want to come in for our Prime Beef. Stoney’s Bar & Grill has some old favorites back like our Fish Tacos and the Beef Dip. Last but not least, wedding guests rave about the beef. Whether its buffet or plated, our chef just does it right!
Finally, is there availability for 2019 couples?
Yes! We have fall and winter dates available still for 2019 and 2020 is booking fast. In 2019, we do still have lower room rentals for Monday – Thursday.
