Earlier this summer I was down at Stanley park shooting an engagement session for one of my wedding couples. The setting really took my breath away with the evening light pouring through the trees and onto the lazy river. The river was dotted with rafts as locals took in a favourite Calgary pastime on hot summer days, floating down the river. It just had the feeling of an old-fashioned swimming hole. It got me thinking about the movie ‘The Notebook” and the scene where Noah is coaxing Ali to “get in the water” on a rope swing. Ever since I’ve been itching to do an Elbow River love shoot with vintage-inspired beachwear and inner tubes.
Enter Becky from Velvet & Vino and Swimco. Becky is a Canadian fashion blogger with a flare for adventure and flirty, beach style. She selected the “Dolce Vita Dot Swimdress” from Swimco for our shoot. The vintage-inspired suit and the pretty flower crown from Sarah Mayerson Design evoked the sense of nostalgia we were hoping to create. I love the relaxed and romantic vibe as Becky and her hubby drifted downstream. See you at the river!
