Vera Wang wedding dress

Just in time for Throwback Thursday, I was reminded of a certain Vera Wang wedding dress and a photo shoot that took place at Endeavor Arts.  It took me back to another time when I collaborated with my Mother and business partner, on a shoot filled with Marie Antoinette inspiration.  With our monochromatic white palette, I think we succeeded in bringing the elegance of Versailles to Calgary.  Here’s the original post, featured in Weddings in Alberta, if you’d like to see.

The all-white dessert table was highlighted by this dramatic, tiered cake from Cakeworks.

The Freya gown from Vera Wang was the centrepiece of this shoot.  I love Vera’s own description of the gown…sounds it could be Marie herself.

The bride who wears Freya assumes a role that’s a little dramatic, because she’s countering all of this softness and gentleness with a very designed and rigid form, almost like a column. I see her as a very cultivated woman, someone who could be the subject of a John Singer Sargent portrait. She might go to a quiet garden party but she’ll be the center of attention.
