I’ve been a wedding photographer in Calgary for a number of years now and as you can imagine, I have amassed a lot of images of beautiful florals. It got me wondering where some of the wedding floral traditions come from. In Victorian times, the bride would toss her bouquet to a friend as she left the festivities. Tradition held that catching the bouquet would ward off evil spirits and bring good luck to the recipient (via The Knot). Now brides toss their bouquet over their shoulder and single friends try to catch it in the hope that they will be the next in line to marry (or not).
I’ve had the opportunity to work with many talented, floral designers here in Calgary and the surrounding area. I thought I would take this opportunity to share some of my favourite blooms. So in no particular order…
