First of all, Emily and Aaron’s Lake House wedding was a special one for me because I’d photographed the bride on a number of other occasions. It was a real treat to finally meet Aaron and to document Emily’s vows to her love. Secondly, she poured her heart and soul into the planning of her wedding, including many handmade details. Because of all of these efforts, their wedding was personal, sentimental and heartfelt.
Calgary photo locations
The weather in Calgary can be a challenge for fall and winter weddings. Wet snow was falling on the morning of Emily and Aaron’s wedding so I was relieved that they had reserved Studio Bell for portraits. It’s sweeping staircases are flooded with beautiful natural light, making it an ideal location for wedding photographs. I know the bridal party appreciated the fact that it was warm and dry while the snowflakes flew outdoors.
Lake House wedding – The Reception
The Lake House is one of my favourite Calgary wedding venues. Between the views of Lake Bonavista, the classic fireplace and the delicious menu with true Canadian fare, it really is the ideal location for a wedding. Not long ago, I posted a feature on throwing a Lake House wedding to my blog. Pop over and take a look.
Finally, Emily and Aaron’s engagement session took place downtown on Stephen Avenue, if you’d like to see.
