Kensington Riverside Inn weddings are always special but today I’m excited to share the full story of The Pop-up Wedding. I partnered with Kensington Riverside Inn on a project that combined enduring romance and some out-of-the-box wedding marketing. Our couple, Carolyn and Ryan, were married 15 years ago but renewed their vows in front of some very unique guests, Calgary brides and grooms. We invited engaged couples to attend and meet amazing wedding vendors, ready to help them plan their own nuptials. A select group of wedding pros jumped on board to support the couple and to show their stuff. To quote Modern Socialite, “it was a kinder, gentler version of a wedding show, with a beautiful ceremony thrown in”!
Kari Bedford from Knot Planning took the reigns in the wedding planning department and brought the Kate Spade theme to life. Not only did the Inn look spectacular, the day flowed smoothly thanks to Kari.
Be sure to stop by the blog tomorrow as I’ll be sharing some fun, behind-the-scenes images of The Pop-up wedding team in action.
A Kate Spade enthusiast herself, Ali of Creative Finch helped us launch The Pop-up Wedding campaign with a gorgeous e-invitation. For April 13th, she created beautiful stationery to commemorate Carolyn and Ryan’s big day.
Our groom Ryan was debonaire in head-to-toe in fashions from Ed Williams Menswear. EWMW took a classic suit, added a few “Kate Spade-inspired” details, and voila! Carolyn’s gorgeous freshwater pearls were from EVS Ellinor Stenroos.
Before the ceremony, Carolyn and Ryan had an intimate “first look” with their girls looking on. Carolyn wore a charming, lace, Jenny Yoo gown from Frocks.
Carolyn and Ryan’s girls wore 1920s-inspired, DKNY dresses from The Hawthorne Tree.
The modern yet elegant Spirit chairs were provided by Special Event Rentals.
Kensington Riverside Inn weddings are held in the fireplace lounge and Fleurish Flower Shop added spring blooms to the mantle.
Carolyn’s vibrant bouquet from Fleurish Flower Shop added the perfect pop of colour to the wedding party.
Yann Haute Patisserie provided delectable macarons with two purposes: they infused the space with colour and interest, then guests took them home as they left the celebration.

Finally, it was time for the vow renewal. Abby Charchun officiated a personal and moving ceremony that included excerpts from their original wedding vows and a sand ceremony that included their two daughters.

When it came to decor, I couldn’t decide which I liked better…the sparkly gold linens from Special Event Rentals or the towers of macarons from Yann Haute Patisserie?
In keeping with the Kate Spade theme, A Vintage Affair dressed Carolyn for dancing in a colourful 1950s reproduction gown. Once again, Ed Williams Menswear provided Ryan’s dancing duds. DJ Fayyaz of Pez Productions played music requested by the couple (and their girls).
Many thanks to Lyana of The Art of Beauty for making Carolyn her most glamorous on her wedding day.
