As a photographer, it’s always a kick to see your work in print. If you haven’t already, pick up the latest issue of Avenue Magazine to see a Calgary Stampede party that I styled and photographed. While this soiree featured a bride and her besties celebrating in Stampede-style, I hope that the ideas you see will inspire your upcoming “Cowtown” celebrations (see pages 62-64 of the July issue).
I’m a Prairie girl at heart. I don’t own a pair of Wranglers (tulle skirts are more my speed) but I look forward to the Stampede like everyone else. When it came to planning a Stampede bachelorette party, I looked to the Calgary landscape for inspiration. Think barley fields, the wild sage in Nose Hill Park and the river rocks made smooth by the waters of the Bow River. Focusing on the “pretty” side of Stampede I added touches of crocheted lace for some country charm. The color palette included blush, dove grey, sage green and pops of blue denim.
