This is my Christmas tree this year. I love it. I can’t take full credit for the concept though. I saw it here first.

New to the photobooth – Mustache-on-a-stick
If you follow my blog, you know that I offer a photo booth for wedding receptions which I call Tara’s “Play Station”. I brought it out for a recent Christmas party but wanted to add something new. I decided on mustaches-on-a-stick and began searching the web for instructions on how to make them. I looked no further than Martha Stewart herself. As you can see, they were a huge hit. Contact the studio if you have any questions about adding a photo booth to your wedding.
2000 Candles – A Must See
Wednesday night I attended opening night of the latest production at Fire Exit Theatre, 2000 Candles. As the company photographer, I’m usually snapping photos so it was such a pleasure to sit and watch. I was blown away by it. To quote the Director’s notes in the program, “it’s an evocative deconstruction of the mess we’ve made of Christmas”. There are 3 shows remaining – Friday night, Saturday at 2:00 pm and Saturday night at the Engineered Air Theatre at the Arts Commons. See the Fire Exit website for tickets and information. It’s hilarious, it’s thought provoking…I highly recommend it.
On opening night of each Fire Exit show, they have _Talk Back_ which is an opportunity for the audience to ask questions of the Director and Actors. Here are a few photos I snapped during Talk Back. Note: 2000 Candles photo courtesy of the 2000 Candles website.
Happy Birthday to Linda!
Today is the birthday one of my dearest friends, Linda.
Three of us – Linda, Randi and I, have been friends since our days at University of Calgary. In spite of the miles between us, Linda remains one of my most favourite people. This is a photo of the three of us in Huntington Beach last summer courtesy of the crazy-talented Tara Whitney.
Back in the summer, I did a photo shoot for Linda and her family. It resulted in one of my favourite family portraits of all time.
I had to include a few outtakes from our session. As you can see, Linda’s a bit of a ham.
Pajama party photo shoot
I had a shoot booked with this family during our extremely cold snap so outdoor photos were out of the question. Carolyn came up with the brilliant idea to do a pajama party shoot complete with Christmas Carols on the stereo. It’s ideas like this that make them one of my favourite families to shoot. See you all next year.
Calgary wedding photographs Contemporary Calgary
It was a chilly day in Calgary but it was warm inside the Contemporary Calgary for Wunmi & Olu’s Art Gallery wedding. I’m so lucky to have such fantastic clients who know how to work it for the camera, and Wunmi & Olu did just that. Wunmi, I hope you agree that these images were worth a few goosebumps. Congratulations!
We started the day with the beautiful bride
The bride’s stunning gown was from The Bridal Centre
…and Olu wasn’t too shabby either.

Their intimate ceremony took place in the Top Gallery at Contemporary Calgary, surrounded by the artwork from the current exhibition.
We finished off the day at the The Fairmont Palliser, where the bride and groom were staying. It was a glamorous ending to a glamorous affair.
Here’s Wunmi & Olu’s sneak peek, if you’d like to see.
