As you know, I have a not-so-secret love for vintage fashion and style. A wedding is the perfect occasion for vintage elements, whether it be jewelry, old family photographs or an heirloom gown. Even the most modern of brides often includes a few hints of nostalgia in her day.
What a thrill to be asked to collaborate with Brilliant Earth on their collection of antique engagement and wedding rings. The timing for this couldn’t be more perfect. I love to design and photograph styled editorial shoots and I’ve been in the scouring the internet lately, looking for new inspiration for 2014. I’m in the process of planning a bridal inspiration shoot with a few of my colleagues, and this collection from Brilliant Earth pushes all the right buttons.
All predictors seem to indicate that brides are leaning towards traditional styling, pure romance and rich hues of blue. Think cathedral-length veils, tuxedos, vintage lace and true glamour. I’ve put together a style board for our project with a few pieces that have caught my eye. Imagine your groom the end of the aisle, dapper in a classic tuxedo (if he happens to be Ryan Gosling, even better) and a sapphire sparkling on your finger. Would you consider adding a hint of cobalt to your ensemble like the Dior gown pictured? Perhaps you would prefer a deep shade of blue on your bridesmaids? I do hope you’ll stop back in the new year and see how this inspiration board came to life. We’re excited about the possibilities.
