DIY Downton – Tips on Fingerwaves

The talented Tara Watts sculpted the bride’s hair for our Downton Abbey shoot and offered tips on creating a 1920’s hair style. This particular style was a combination of pin curls and fingerwaves.

First of all, Tara instructs us to start with freshly washed, wet hair.

Tara fashioned Rebecca’s hair around her fingers and clipped the hair in place. Tara recommends using a sculpting lotion with good hold.

She used smaller clips at the back to create individual pin curls. The curls were created to roll downwards.

Rebecca spent 20 minutes under the hair dryer.

Rebecca’s hair was carefully brushed out into waves. Weightless shine and hairspray were used to tame any frizzies.
