Community Food Centres

On September 13th, I was pleased to participate in and photograph the Harvest Moon celebration at the spectacular 7K Panorama Ranch. The evening was a hearty blend of food, community and music in support of Community Food Centres Canada. CFCC has a mission to “bring people in low-income communities together to grow, cook, share and advocate for good food – in Calgary and across the country”.

I was introduced to Community Food Centres when I photographed the wedding of Michael Kaumeyer (Strategy Partners Inc. principal and event organizer), to his lovely wife Deb. They hosted Harvest Moon at their ranch near Okotoks, complete with Rocky Mountain views and a welcoming barn, outfitted with chandeliers and bison heads.

Eight of Calgary’s top Chef’s delighted our taste buds with food and wine pairings. They included Rogelio Herrera (Candela Lounge/Alloy Restaurant), Paul Rogalski (Rouge Restaurant), Andrew Winfield (River Cafe), Glen Manzer/Pastry Chef Erin Verba (Cibo/Bonterra Group), Duncan Ly (Yellow Door Bistro/Chef’s Table), Cedric Truchon (Boxwood Cafe) and Judy Wood (Meez Cuisine).

After dinner, guests gathered in the barn for live performances from the Juno award-winning Sam Roberts Band and Juno/CCMA nominated country star Chad Brownlee. You just can’t beat the atmosphere of a live concert and it was a thrill to dodge guests spinning on the dance floor to capture these amazing musical artists.

That night I rushed home to purchase the new Sam Roberts album, Lo-Fantasy.

Cool fact:   I was served a yogurt panna cotta by none other than former-Flame, Jim Peplinksi.

This wasn’t the first time I photographed Chef Duncan Ly with the Hotel Arts Group.  Here’s my interview with Chef Ly, in preparation for The Pop-up Wedding?
