Best Wedding Cakes – Calgary wedding photographer

Maybe it’s because my sweet tooth wasn’t quite satisfied on Valentine’s Day, but as I scrolled through my archives recently, I noticed that I have quite the collection of wedding cake images.  I thought it would be fun to share 10 of my best wedding cakes.  Before I do that, here’s a little wedding cake trivia.  Did you know that dating as far back as the early 17th century, single girls would take home a slice of wedding cake and sleep with it under their pillows?  The superstition held that the cake would cause them to dream of their future spouses.   I’m just sayin’.

And so, in no particular order…

A Moroccan-themed, teal cake by Swirl Cakes.  You might remember it from this French Flea Market bridal shower.

A glamorous cake for spring by the outstanding pastry team at The Fairmont Palliser, from this pastel wedding shoot.

It’s no secret, I have a pastry crush on the people at Cakeworks.  I have photographed a number of Cakework’s creations over the years, including the coral confections at Reanna and Jordan’s Hotel Arts wedding.

At their Heritage Park wedding, Katherine Tyler had a cupcake tower and textured cake for cutting, by Crave.

If you’re looking for a wedding cake alternative, try a dessert buffet.  Sweet Treats provided all of the delights for this vintage wedding at the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis.

The pastry team at the Fairmont Banff Springs  hotel provided individual wedding cakes for each of the guests at Randy & Gabrielle’s elegant affair.

Judy Crowe from Cake Sensations created this modern and romantic cake for Katie & Chris’ Spruce Meadows Wedding.
