Guerilla art and an Irish blessing

My St. Patrick’s Day treat was a date with my Pops, my niece and my three nephews. All week I was trying to think of something fun for us to do together that didn’t involve popping in a movie. Then I stumbled across Andrea’s guerilla art project on Hula Seventy. Since it was St. Patrick’s day, I thought we could put a shamrock twist on the concept and plaster the city with cheer.

We started with excerpts from an old Irish blessing, handwritten by my 6 year old nephew.

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

and rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

We gathered every green writing utensil we could find and went crazy.

Then we hit the streets…

We had so much fun, running from place to place, armed with our placards and a little green duct tape. What cracked me up was that the kids were completely intrigued by the “illicit” nature of our project. After each posting they practically shrieked with delight and ran like crazy.

I hope your day was just as fun!
